Kutztown’s Josh Smith Awarded PSAC Champion Scholar Honor for Football Championship

Kutztown, Pa. – Senior wide receiver Josh Smith of Kutztown was named the recipient of the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the football championship prior to today’s football championship game.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA’s Elite 89 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC’s 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II and III. Over the last four weekends, the inaugural Champion Scholar Awards has been given out for the men’s and women’s golf, cross country and soccer championships, as well as the field hockey and volleyball championships. The football championship is the final PSAC championship of the fall season.

Smith is majoring in secondary education with a focus on social studies and history. He has compiled a 3.76 grade point average and has accumulated 113 credit hours to date. A native of West Lawn, Pa., he is a graduate of Wilson High School.
