NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL OFFENSIVE BRUCE EUGENE, SR. QB, 6'1, 260. GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY:Eugene completed 28-of-49 passes for 507 yards, including seven touchdowns, while rushing six times for 22 yards in a 58-21 win over Texas Southern. This marks his second 500-yard plus, seven touchdown single-game effort this season. He now has a career passing mark of 11,754 yards while being ranked third on the league's career passing touchdown list with 115
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL OFFENSIVE ERIK MEYER, SR. QB, 6'2, 210. EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY:Meyer, a Walter Payton Award candidate, completed 28-of-33 passes (85-percent) for a career-high 470 yards with three touchdowns in No. 14 EWU's 45-17 victory over Sacramento State. Meyer finished with an efficiency rating of 234.6. It was the 15th 300-yard game of his career. For the season, the reigning Big Sky Offensive MVP, Meyer has completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 2,848 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions. His efficiency rating is 170.0, and he's averaging 356 passing yards per game.
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL DEFENSIVE BRIAN JOHNSTON, SO. DE, 6'6, 271. GARDNER-WEBB UNIVERSITY:Johnston recorded a career-high 13 tackles (seven solo) in Gardner-Webb's 21-16 win over Liberty. He posted four tackles on Liberty's final drive, which started with 2:03 left to play, including an eight-yard sack on second down, and a quarterback hurry that led to the game-clinching interception. Earlier in the game, Johnston sacked and stripped Liberty's quarterback that set up another Bulldog touchdown. He finished the day with 3.0 tackles for loss (16 yards), including two sacks, as well as a forced fumble and three QB hurries.
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS ERIC CONTOS, SR. P, 5'10, 175. DELAWARE STATE UNIVERSITY: Contos averaged 48.9 yards per punt on seven attempts in the loss to nationally-ranked South Carolina State. Contos had four punts of 50 or more yards (53, 55, 56 and 51), while placing five punts inside the Bulldogs 20-yard line and two inside the 10.
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS MIKE DRAGOSAVICH, SO. P, 6'5, 196. NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY:Dragosavich punted six times for a 49.2 yards per kick average in NDSU's 37-21 win at Southern Utah. He matched a career-high with a 63-yard effort. He had two touchbacks, one inside the 20-yard line, and a net average of 44.5 yards per kick.
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS JON MAHAN. JR. P, 6'0, 201. TENNESSEE TECH UNIVERSITY:Mahan averaged 45.4 yards on seven punts in the loss to Jacksonville State. He landed two punts inside the 20 and had a long boot of 73 yards. Mahan is sporting a 46.2 average per attempt on 22 punts since moving into the starting role at the beginning of October.
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL OFFENSIVE LINEMAN DEMARIO DEESE. FR. ORT, 6'4, 326. GARDNER-WEBB UNIVERSITY:Deese started his eighth game of the season in the 21-16 win over Liberty. He graded out at a very productive 83 percent with five pancakes and just one missed assignment. He helped clear the way for 228 rushing yards by Gardner-Webb and 395 total offensive yards versus the Flames.
NCAA 1-AA NATIONAL OFFENSIVE LINEMAN FRED NOLAN. SR. OG, 6'3, 300. BETHUNE-COOKMAN UNIVERSITY:Nolan anchored a Wildcats offensive line that paved the way for 556 yards of total offense in BC-C's 54-17 win over North Carolina A&T. Nolan did not allow any sacks, while accumulating five pancake blocks. He graded out at 98 percent on all assignments.
NCAA 1-AA MID-MAJOR NATIONAL OFFENSIVE JOSH JOHNSON, SO. QB, 6'3, 180. UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO:Johnson played just one half of San Diego's 63-31 romp over Valparaiso but put together an impressive 20-for-26 on pass attempts for 345 yards and seven touchdowns. He is only the second player in 1-AA to throw for seven touchdowns ( Grambling's Bruce Eugene has thrown for seven touchdowns twice this season), tying the San Diego and PFL record, held by USD alumnus Eric Rasmussen.
NCAA 1-AA MID-MAJOR NATIONAL OFFENSIVE ED PRICOLO, SR. RB, 5'10, 210. SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY:Pricolo with nearly 3,000 career rushing yards, ran for an NEC season-high 232 yards on just 21 carries with a school-record five touchdowns in SHU's 53-45 win over St. Francis. His five touchdowns and 30 points scored equals conference records set by Central Connecticut's Cory Harge last season. Pricolo, who leads the NEC with 1,019 yards this season, needs 96 more yards to move into third all-time in the NEC for a career and pass Albany's Gary Jones (3,033).
NCAA 1-AA MID-MAJOR NATIONAL DEFENSIVE COREE TUCKER, SR. LB, 6'0, 210. CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY:Tucker posted a career-high 15 tackles in a 15-13 victory over Monmouth. The all-conference linebacker also logged two sacks, two tackles-for-loss, a career-high three pass breakups and a forced fumble. The Tucker-led defense guaranteed that his senior class would be the first senior group in 30 years to leave CCSU with a winning record.
NCAA 1-AA MID-MAJOR NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS DEREK PEARSON, SR. K/P, 6'0, 200, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY:Pearson was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter. He kicked field goals of 22, 35 and 39 yards in the all-important 15-13 win versus Monmouth. The 39-yarder in the fourth quarter was his second game-winning field goal of 2005 (he also won the game at Colgate). Pearson also kicked six punts for a 39.8 average. He currently leads the NEC in punting average (40.0) and scoring by kick (51 points). He has now converted 10-of-13 field goals this season.
NCAA II NATIONAL OFFENSIVE MARLON BECKLES, JR. RB, 5'10, 200. AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE:Beckles rushed for a career-high 280 yards on 41 carries and scored four touchdowns, including three in the second half, as AIC defeated Stonehill 38-20. Beckles moved into the fifth spot on AIC's career rushing list.
NCAA II NATIONAL OFFENSIVE EVAN GRAY, SR. QB, 6'1, 206. UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT ROLLA:Gray set school records for touchdowns by passing and passing yards in a single-game. In the game he also established the school records for career total offense and career passing yards. In the Miners45-3 win over 1-AA, Austin Peay State, Gray completed 26-of-41 passes for 499 yards with six touchdowns. Team records were set for touchdowns by team passing and team passing yards in a single-game.
NCAA II NATIONAL OFFENSIVE TED SCHLAFKE, FR. QB, 5'11, 180. UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH: Schlafke completed 31-of-46 passes for 457 yards and tied NCC and school records with six touchdowns in leading the Bulldogs to a 56-43 win over nationally-ranked South Dakota. He also rushed 12 times for 47 yards. The marks set UMD single-game records for total offense and passing yards and tied marks for completions and passing touchdowns.
NCAA II NATIONAL DEFENSIVE JEREMIAH JOHNSON, SO. S, 5'11, 195. BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY:Johnson totaled eight tackles, including four unassisted stops, and two pass interceptions in a 27-13 victory over Minnesota State-Moorhead. He logged 65 yards in interception returns, including a 28-yard touchdown return.
NCAA II NATIONAL DEFENSIVE DAN PETERS, JR. S, 6'4, 215. SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY:Peters recorded four interceptions in Shepherd's 34-7 victory against West Liberty State to raise his season total to a league record 12. The national leader in interceptions also added a pair of tackles as the Rams defense limited West Liberty to 179 yards of total offense.
NCAA II NATIONAL DEFENSIVE ROBERT TOWNS, JR. CB. 5'11, 200. HARDING UNIVERSITY:Towns spearheaded the Bisons' 24-10 home upset win over No. 9-ranked Arkansas Tech. He racked up six total tackles (four solo), added one pass breakup and hauled in three interceptions for 10 yards. Harding took full advantage of Towns three interceptions, scoring 17 points. The three interceptions tied the school record.
NCAA II NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS MATT ADAMS, FR, K, 5'11, 180. ABILENE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY:Adams tied an ACU single-game record with four field goals , connecting from 35, 53, 27 and 28 yards, in the Wildcats' 19-3 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville. His 53-yarder is the second longest field goal by a freshman in ACU history.
NCAA II NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS DUSTIN ESSLIN. SR. P, 6'2, 200. SAGINAW VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY:Esslin averaged 49.8 yards per punt, including a career-long 76-yard boot in the second quarter which was downed at the Michigan Tech one-yard line. In the Cardinals 17-10 win over MTU, he downed three of his eight punts inside the 20 as Tech's average start was their own 25 yard line. He also had a 65 yard punt in the air.
NCAA II NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS PAUL WILLIAMS, JR. K, 5'10, 200. TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY:Williams made three field goals and three extra points in Tarleton's 30-17 win at Angelo State, setting both a school and L:SC record along the way. He made field goals of 42, 49 and 49. It gave him a single-season school-record 13 field goals this year and extended his streak of consecutive field goals made to a LSC 13 this year and 22 overall.
NCAA II NATIONAL OFFENSIVE LINEMAN KYLE LOWN, SR. OC, 6'3, 331. FAYETTEVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY:Lown provided protection as the Bronco's quarterback threw five touchdown passes to set a new school record in a 52-22 win against Livingstone College. The Bronco's ground attack rushed for 259 yards and two scores in the season finale to finish with 538 total offensive yards.
NCAA II NATIONAL ALL-PURPOSE JOSH KNIESS, SR. RB/RS, 5'9, 180. SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY:Kniess rushed 22 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns and also had 110 yards on five punt returns (22.0 yards per return average), including an 80-yard touchdown return, in Slippery Rock's 58-28 win over Shippensburg. Kniess became SRU's career leader in all-purpose yards in the game.
NCAA III NATIONAL OFFENSIVE JUSTIN JACOBS, JR. QB, 6'1, 186. UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER:Jacobs tied a school record with five touchdown passes in UW-Whitewater's 36-7 victory over UW-Oshkosh. He completed 19-of-31 passes for 312 yards and had touchdown tosses of 42, 10, 18, 19 and 58-yards in the contest. Jacobs tied the mark set by Bob Berezowitz (long-time head football coach at UW-Whitewater, now in his 21st year of mentoring the Warhawks' football fortunes) against UW-Superior in 1966 and Ed Nowell against UW-Superior in 1973.
NCAA III NATIONAL OFFENSIVE ALEX KOFOED, SO. QB, 6'2, 195. SAINT JOHN'S (MN) UNIVERSITY:Kofoed had an outstanding game as he was 21-of-33 passing for a career-high 375 yards and five touchdown passes. Kofoed also notched a one-yard rushing touchdown and had no interceptions on the day. St. John's scored on nine straight possessions to erase a 3-0 deficit and defeat previously unbeaten Saint Olaf College 63-9 in front of 9,923 fans. With the win, St. John's clinched an automatic bid into the 32-team NCAA playoffs.
NCAA III NATIONAL OFFENSIVE ANDY TE KIPPE, SO. QB, 6'0. 196. COE COLLEGE:TeKippe threw for a school record six touchdown passes. He completed 20-of-27 passes for 323 yards. TeKippe also had seven carries for five yards. All six touchdowns came in the first half as Coe built a 49-7 lead. Coe defeated arch-rival Cornell 56-21 in the 115th meeting of the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi.
NCAA III NATIONAL OFFENSIVE CHRIS WARRICK. JR. QB, 6'2. 212. WESLEY COLLEGE:Warrick threw for 439 yards completing 28-of-37 passes with four touchdowns and ran for two more. With Warrick's outstanding performance, Wesley defeated nationally-ranked Salisbury 63-19.
NCAA III NATIONAL DEFENSIVE ERIC BAILEY. SO. DB. 6'0, 195. ROWAN UNIVERSITY:Bailey helped the Profs post a 22-0 victory over Brockport State. In the win, he collected five solo stops and a fumble recovery. He also notched three pass breakups and two interceptions that he returned for a combined 31 yards. Bailey currently ranks second in the NJAC in interceptions with an average of 0.57 per game.
NCAA III NATIONAL DEFENSIVE DENNIS HOLSMAN, SR. LB. 6'2, 200. NORTHWESTERN (MN) COLLEGE:Holsman intercepted two passes for a total of 46 return yards, including one he returned 40 yards for a touchdown, as Northwestern defeated Westminster (MO) College 27-7 in the Championship game for the Upper Midwest Conference title. Holsman also registered seven tackles for the day.
NCAA III NATIONAL DEFENSIVE MAX POPE, SR. OLB, 5'9, 184. METHODIST COLLEGE:Pope totaled 14 tackles (five solo), including 4.5 tackles for a loss of 28 yards and two sacks, as the Monarchs defeated Maryville 28-24.
NCAA III NATIONAL DEFENSIVE JUSTIN ZIGLER, SR, LB, 6'2, 215. MONMOUTH (IL) COLLEGE:Zigler totaled 18 tackles (10 solo), including three tackles for loss (-13 yards), as Monmouth won their all-important encounter with Carroll College, 35-27. Zigler also had two sacks and one pass breakup.
NCAA III NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS BRANDON STEVENS, SO. P. 6'3, 185. HOWARD PAYNE UNIVERSITY:Stevens put four of his five punts inside the 20-yard line and finished with a personal season-best 50.4-yard average to help HPU to a 21-14 win over Texas Lutheran. He boomed one punt for 66 yards and it was his third season punt for 66 or more yards.
NCAA III NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS DWIGHT SWANEY, SR. K/P. 5'11, 175. SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY:Swaney hit a 30-yard field goal in the second quarter for the Crusaders' first points of the game, added an extra point on his only attempt in the third quarter and averaged 47.4 yards on five punts in SU's loss to FDU-Florham, 21-16. The 47.4 punt average was the best single-game average in the past 25 years, which included a career-long 68 yard punt that sailed 50 yards in the air into the wind. Three of Swaney's punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. He successfully executed an onside kick in the fourth quarter, the teams fourth in the last two years.
NAIA NATIONAL OFFENSIVE MIKE DVORACEK, JR. RB. 5'11, 205. UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS:Dvoracek rushed a career high 37 times for 166 yards and four touchdowns in fourth-ranked Sioux Falls 41-7 win at #25 Nebraska Wesleyan. He also caught two passes for 26 yards. The Cougars held the ball on offense for 37:45 in the game.
NAIA NATIONAL OFFENSIVE JEFF KIETZMAN, SR. QB, 6'5, 205. SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY:Kietzman hit 23-of-36 passes for 431 yards with two interceptions and six touchdowns as St. Ambrose improved to 7-1 on the year with a 43-10 romp over William Penn. He also had three rushing attempts for six yards. His six touchdowns, which tie an MSFA Midwest League record, went for 65, 8, 35, 20, 72 and 7 yards. Kietzman also moved to No. 2 on SAU's career touchdown list with 46 and to No. 2 in career total yardage.
NAIA NATIONAL DEFENSIVE JARROD DEWALD, SR. LB. 5'11, 205. SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY:Dewald tied a school record for most tackles in a game as he amassed 17 tackles (14 solo) in SNU's 35-19 win at Langston. Included in his tackles were two tackles for losses of nine yards and one sack for five yards.
NAIA NATIONAL DEFENSIVE STEADMAN MATHIS, JR. LB. 5'10, 210. DICKINSON STATE UNIVERSITY:Mathis had 17 tackles (10 solo), including one sack in the Blue Hawks 48-0 win over South Dakota Tech. Mathis also had an interception, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and broke up a pair of passes as the Blue Hawks picked up their second consecutive shutout and third of the season.
NAIA NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS BRISON GRAY, FR. K. 5'11, 155. McPHERSON COLLEGE:Gray made two field goals (42 & 19 yards) and was perfect on four-of-four point after attempts. His first field goal of 42 yards was as time ran out in the first half, and in the second half with just three minutes remaining his 19 yard field goal iced the victory in a 34-24 win at Bethany. McPherson is now 5-3 on the season.
NAIA NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS KEITH OSTERMANN, SO. K, 6'4, 200. BETHEL (TN) COLLEGE:Ostermann was a perfect four-for-four on extra point kicks in the 31-13 win against Lambuth, and converted a field goal from 42 yards out. He also kicked off a total of six times for 375 yards, with his longest going to the goal line (65 yards.)
NAIA NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS JABARI WOODS, SO. WR/KR, 6'0, 190. IOWA WESLEYAN COLLEGE:Woods returned two punts for 99 yards, including one for a school-record 80 yards and a touchdown and had two kickoff returns for 95 yards, including an 84-yard return on the opeing kickoff as Iowa Wesleyan defeated St. Francis, Ill. 37-16. Woods also caught three passes for 39yards and rushed for 21 yards on three carries
