Saint Mary, Friends Boast KCAC Football Players of the Week

Wichita, Kan. – University of Saint Mary’s Mike Keese (Junior, Olathe, Kan.) and Trevion Sims (Cameron, Texas) earn Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week honors following an away victory over Kansas Wesleyan University. Will Bothwell (Freshman, Hutchinson, Kan.) of Friends University also earned weekly honors.

Trevion Sims is awarded Defensive Player of the Week as University of Saint Mary wins over conference opponent Kansas Wesleyan University, 21 to 16. The 5-9, 175 lb. Freshman Defensive Back recorded 5.0 solo tackles, with 3.0 tackles for a loss, and intercepted two passes. Sims’s final interception ended the Coyotes last drive of the game, sealing the Spires victory.

For the third time this season, Offensive Player of the Week Honor belongs to University of Saint Mary Quarterback Mike Keese. The Junior Signal Caller led the Spires over the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on Saturday afternoon. The 6-2, 190 lb Keese completed 32 of 58 passes for 337 yards. He connected for two touchdowns and one interception during the 21 to 16 away victory.

Friends University Freshman Will Bothwell earned the Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in a 31 to 21 home win over Tabor College. The 5-11, 175 lb Wide Receiver returned three punts for 100 yards, including an 80-yard return for a touchdown.

All KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors, which will be announced later this week.
